Mikado is the foundation stallion of Terre D'Ange's Westphalian breeding program. He is imported from Germany, and was carefully selected on the basis of his beautiful conformation and outstanding temperament. He's also pretty handy in the arena, competing at Grand Prix dressage and looking damn good while he's doing it. He's got gorgeous, fluid movements and incredible presence. Mikado has a gentleman's temperament, and is wonderful horse to deal with. In 2006, Mikado enjoyed a lengthy spell and is now back and ready to face the show ring with more vigour than ever! His offspring so far have been impressively built with a natural carriage and forward movement. He is the sire of D'Angeline Mephistopheles, who is the first D'Angeline-bred horse to join the breeding program and is siring some wonderful Mikado grand-children. If you are looking for your next dressage star with a temperament second to none, then Mikado is the stallion for you! Please read his breeding contract if you are interested. What's In A Name?: Mikado is a term for the emperor of Japan, and it's literal English translation is 'exalted gate'. The term is no longer in common usage. The Mikado is the title of an operetta written by Gilbert & Sullivan, and first produced in 1885.
